We are currently in the insulation/ drywall process as we near the end of August. I cant believe how fast the months are flying by! Can't wait to be in our new home in October, eek! :D

I also wanted to note, I do not intend to brag by clarifying which options were (upgrades). I follow quite a few home building blogs, and always like to know which options/ upgrades people chose; as these can sometimes be some of the hardest decisions to make during the home building process. So hopefully someone will find this helpful :) I should be visiting the house sometime this week to get some new photos once drywall is finished, and will be sure to share! Be sure to,
and leave me some love in the comments below!

Building Our First House - NEW Progress Photos!

hello beauties.

Phew! It sure has been a busy month thus far! The last time I updated on our home build, we had just had our foundation poured and back filled. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and our house is finally starting to look more like, well.. a house! ;)
Despite a less than stellar daily weather forecast for the past 2 weeks, Southern Maryland managed to stay "fairly" dry until we were under roof. [Well, expect for that one whole day and night that it positively down poured, shortly after our second floor was framed. David and I spent a few hours after that event sweeping all of the standing water off of our subflooring :/ lol fun times!]
But alas, the sun came out just in time for roofing to begin, and JUST before another pretty terrible thunderstorm.. Hallelujah!
Hopefully now that we are under roof, and windows and doors are installed, we wont have to rely so heavily on good weather for things to keep moving with the construction schedule.
Anyhow, wanted to share some more recent progress pics with you all ! The house has changed even more since these were taken, yay!  so be sure to check back soon for more updates + photos!

a VERY exciting day! First floor framing

Building Our First House - Our Flooring Choices

 ❤  HI Beauties ♥

Hope all of you have been well, I apologize for the lack of house updates! The weather here in Maryland has been less than ideal for the past couple of weeks, and things have been messy and slow going over at our homesite. Needless to say, we've all been a little stressed with the situation. The countdown to our closing date is on now! This weekend will mark exactly 2 months until the big day, and unfortunately I don't think we will be moving in on time at this point :(

On a lighter note, I still have lots of exciting interior features to share with you beauties! Today I wanted to show you our flooring choices for our new home. I've only seen most of these finishes and colors in sample sizes at the design center thus far, so I'm really excited to see how they come together in the house! Just for reference, the hardwoods, thicker carpet padding and aruba tile in the master bath were all upgrades. Vinyl and carpeting were standard options.

Oak Hardwood in Butterscotch 3-1/4
(Foyer, Dining Room, Kitchen, Breakfast Nook & Powder Room)

Carpet- Full Court in Honeycomb
w/ Upgrade II Pad
(Family Room & Bedrooms)

Vinyl - 66180
(Laundry Room)

Vinyl- 66190
(Hall Bath)

Ceramic Tile in Aruba Sand
(Master Bath)

Let me know what you think of our selections!?
I was a bit skeptical of putting hardwoods in the kitchen & breakfast nook at first; imagining water damage etc! But I really love the warm, inviting feel that hardwood flooring provides and talked to a few friends who had positive experiences with hardwoods throughout.
I'd love your thoughts on this as well! :)
